About me

I am Tomás D’Amelio, a researcher (in progress) deeply involved in exploring, building and teaching at the intersection of affective computing and affective neuroscience.

My academic background at the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Barcelona, and the École Normale Supérieure (Paris) provided me with training in psychology, neuroscience, and machine learning to:

  1. Identify and analyze physiological biomarkers of emotions.
  2. Apply technological advances for practical use, such as creating automated stress and anxiety detection systems useful for prognosis, diagnosis and monitoring of mental health conditions.

Beyond the academic world, I am passionate about making knowledge of neuroscience and human behavior accessible and beneficial to different sectors of society.

In this pursuit, I co-founded Neurotransmitiendo, a communication and education NGO in neuroscience and psychology in Latin America with over 20,000 followers. Additionally, I am the team leader of NeuroTechX Buenos Aires, where we endeavor to grow the neurotech industry in the region.

Building at Purple Gaze, an eye-tracking company, where I contribute as a data scientist.
